After graduating in 1980 with a B.A. in Fine Arts from the London Central School of Art and Design, I have been working in oils, watercolours and mixed media. I have exhibited and sold my paintings widely in Britain, Italy and France. I was a member of the Society of Art of Imagination and during the past 10 years my work has been selected regularly by the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. For more detailed information please go to my web site and read my C.V.
Painting for me is about finding beauty in everyday life. It is a tool to enrich and widen my horizons and it helps me in making a deeper connection with myself. It pushes me constantly to tune my senses and to see beyond the surface to discover new aspects and connections which can be woven together in a very personal way.
I have been painting for over forty years and I believe that this practice has brought me the invaluable gift of discovering beauty nearly everywhere I look. My inspiration comes from two sources: imagination and nature. As regards the imagination for me painting is bringing something into this existence from a different dimension. In the landscapes and still -lives what I try to achieve is a sense of order and harmony. Since moving to Herefordshire, some twelve years ago, the local landscape has made a deep impression on me and I often feel moved to paint some of the views surrounding my house.
My objective is the creation of a space for reflection, a sense of poetry and a nurturing emotional response.
